What you’ll be doing:

  • To provide expert advice and to actively support the business on R&A matters by conducting regular site visits to assure the business has the right standards in place

  • Identify risk & support Operational teams implementing control measures whilst promoting best practice

  • Ensure that all improvement projects are implemented at site level and outstanding actions are identified within the site improvement plan.

  • Be a part of a multi-layer assurance strategy. Evaluate the site against the VMR (Veolia Minimum Requirements) to ensure it meets the requirements. Visit locations according to the agreed-upon schedule to interact with operational teams and observe their daily activities.

  • Monitor the performance of your sites in order to identify where additional support / actions are required, escalating any concerns to Senior Advisor and/or manager.

  • Promote good practice across the team and recommend improvements to the standards i.e. VMR.

  • Monitor with the operational teams the close out of action from audits, events and investigations, supporting sites carrying out event investigations to identify root causes.

  • Support R&A Team with communication on good practice and lessons learnt.

What we are looking for:

The ideal candidate will combine technical knowledge with a keen eye for potential hazards and a practical mindset for problem-solving. They should be able to navigate complex situations, propose realistic solutions, and effectively communicate these to all levels of the business.

  • Previous experience in a Safety Advisor Role ideally in the waste management sector, with a NEBOSH General Certificate as a minimum

  • Internal Auditor Training, with experience of different operational activities. Motivated to be actively part of the improvement programme and implementation of this within operational sites

  • An individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to provide industry-leading customer service to all internal and external customers.

  • Strong hazard perception skills, with the ability to identify and assess potential risks in various operational environments

  • A pragmatic approach to finding solutions, demonstrating the ability to develop practical and effective strategies to address safety concerns.
