What you’ll be doing:

We are seeking an experienced Process Safety Engineer who is looking for their next move into a management role, to lead our business in developing and implementing a health and safety strategy for our Hazardous Waste UK operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be a trusted business partner to the Hazardous Waste UK operations teams

  • Support the drive of a pro-active culture by ensuring your team actively supports the operations, including solutions and sharing good practice

  • Lead and develop the Hazardous Waste Risk & Assurance team

  • Monitor the performance of your sites to identify where additional support/actions are required. Drive health and safety and process safety initiatives across UK operations.

  • Lead the implementation of improvement programmes across the business.

  • Manage COMAH compliance and regulatory relationships

  • Chair the process risk forum

  • Develop and implement process safety KPIs

  • Facilitate hazard studies and complex risk assessments

  • Lead incident investigations

  • Provide technical expertise on process safety matters.

The role reports to the Risk & Assurance Director - Treatment, IWE & Ireland and manages 2 direct reports across 16+ sites and will engage with stakeholders at all levels, from site operations to executive management, and represent the company with external regulators and industry groups.

What we are looking for:

  • Engineering degree

  • Extensive experience in process safety management, including managing COMAH, intervention visits and safety reports

  • Strong background in chemical process operations

  • Hazard study leader experience

  • Functional safety management experience

  • Proven leadership and team development skills

  • An individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to provide industry-leading customer service to all internal and external customers

  • A pragmatic approach to finding solutions, demonstrating the ability to develop practical and effective strategies to address safety concerns.
